This report covers an eighth date with the subject referred to here as M., held on Wednesday, July 1, at 3:00 pm, at a mall in her area, 45 minutes from my house. The date ran 240 minutes. The cost was $33.23, paid in full by me.

Before the date

The mall was proposed by me and chosen by me, and agreed by text on June 30 for the following afternoon, a lag of 1 day and the shortest in the arc.

The texts beforehand covered marriage, looking at rings, and her showing me around the women’s stores so I would know what she likes. There was also a running joke about my finding additional wives at the mall. She said that would make her jealous in a good way, and that it would make her more apt to put effort in for me.

That last clause is a disclaimer and it goes on the form. It describes the conditions under which effort increases, it was volunteered inside a joke, and it is consistent with everything already on file: on May 30 she said she reflects feelings that have been shown first, and on July 1 she named a second input that moves the same output.

The jewelry store

We walked into the mall and she tugged me toward a jewelry store.

Inside, I took her hand and told the saleswoman we needed to measure it, to confirm it was a size 4.5.

I knew that figure because M. told it to me on the first date, on April 20, unasked. I had forgotten it for 72 days and recovered it standing at a counter with her hand in mine.

It is the first figure in this arc that has been checked against an instrument rather than entered on someone’s word, and it did not hold. Every other number on every other form here, mine included, is a receipt, a recollection, or an approximation, and none of them have been measured.

Sephora

At Sephora she made me guess her skin tone from the foundation. I guessed. I was wrong. She corrected me by showing me the shade, which is M49.

That is the third time in this file that I have produced an answer and she has supplied the accurate version of it. On April 25 she rephrased what I am looking for in a relationship after I fumbled it, and I agreed with her wording. In June she summarised the division of labor and I have her confirmation of it in writing. On July 1 she handed me a product code.

The pattern is consistent and the direction is stable. I estimate, and then the exact figure arrives from the other side of the table.

I can be toxic in relationships

Walking through the mall, M. said:

“I can be toxic in relationships”

I asked her to expound. She was unable to give examples. I let it go.

That is the tenth disclaimer and the second of its kind. On May 30 she told me her temper was something I would have to watch out for in the future, and when I asked what she meant, the answer was that I should try casual relationships. On July 1 she told me she can be toxic, and when I asked what she meant, there was nothing further.

Both were warnings. Both were volunteered. Neither survived a follow-up question with any detail attached. This file now holds 2 disclosures of future cost with no figure on either of them, which is the only category of line item on this site that cannot be totalled.

The afternoon that contained that sentence also contained a jewelry store, a ring size, and a joke about marriage. I am not going to characterize the combination. I am recording that both happened between 3:00 pm and 7:00 pm on the same Wednesday, at the same mall, in that order.

The parting

I held her hand through the mall, and at her car at the end of the afternoon I kissed her and hugged her. All of it is mine.
